Hello everyone. I first want to thank all those who make this honey tasting a possibility. You bring us some pretty awesome honey from around the world. I also want to thank those producers that I have met and share their passion with me. If you wish to send us your honey, please contact me at eric.goliath@gmail.com

This honey we presume has flavor added to it. The evergreen flavor really gave us the feeling for a nice walk in the woods. Eucalyptus, menthol, spruce, lavender and of course evergreen flavors got our tongue excited.
Rose sauvage/Wild rose, Québec, merci encore Marianne

We feel that this honey had added flavor as well. It was soapy, cough syrupy, morning fresh rose, even the Popeye cigarette taste. At the end a bit of peach. This was very strong, too strong to be true!

An contrasty honey. It has some harsh leather, molasses and prune taste and on the opposite side was very sweet.

 Ottawa, Merci Serge
This honey cake gave use a typical regional flavor of light clover with a taffy texture. Zachary felt like spring when tasting this honey!

 Orange Blossom, Ghana. Merci Carmela

Are you ready, this honey exploded with flavor, caramel creme, smoked taffy, molasses, soft butter, maple, caramel, chocolate fudge, strong butter and Zachary even thought it tasted like winter!! Quite surprising considering this honey comes from Africa!

 Japon/Japan, Thanks Danielle
This honey is in fact a citrus marmalade with honey. This was delicious. The Japanese writing instructs us to put this marmalade in some tea.

 Miel Daniza (mieldaniza.ca) Notre-Dame-de-la-Salette, Québec. Daniel Roy,Apiculteur

It was a pleasure to have met Daniel this passionate beekeeper. This local honey gave us a light maple and anise flavor, very sweet and mostly at it's best at the end.

Moyen orient (Quatar) Middle East (Quatar) Merci Shelley/Thanks Shelley
It is surprising to think that a country that is so hot and deserted as Quatar, would even produce a honey, but it does and quite the honey too. Look at all these flavors: fruity, caramel, prune, blueberry, blackberry, fresh fruits, strawberry and even Halloween taffy. Very surprising, especially if you think that most of these fruits are not even grown there!!

Thank you Gabiel for offering us such a variety of honey to discover.

A bit of alcohol, minth and spring flowers, this honey had a little side taste that we could not describe?

Light cheezy taste like conté or camembert, fruity, refreshing, kiwi, creamy, flowers. Incredible to find all these flavors in one honey!!

A bit of smell of cheeze, that transformes into sweek flowers and maple taste.

A great taste of mint, sweet apple, citrus fruits and plastic?

Le dernier de Genève- The last of Geneva.
This honey had a strong taste of smoke, wood burning, coal, but an incredibly soft chocoloate ending. There is no doubt our taste buds are really different from one person to another!

Thanks and don't hesitate to contact us if you have any comments or honey for us.

Hello all and welcome to another honey tasting edition.

Today we have honeys from 6 different countries. I hope you appreciate and that you will post a comment. Also, don't hesitate to make a little purchase of locally produced honey on your next travels....it will be our pleasure to savor them! ;-)

Estonie/Estonia
This honey came thanks to my friend Leena. This honey had a taste of molasse and harsh clover. We also thought it had a long taste in mouth, which is suprizing for a honey.

 Bosnie/Bosnia
This honey that my friend Tatiana brought back from Bosnia had a lemony and dusty taste. It was also very consistent, almost like Québec's tir d'érable! Awesome

 Japon/Japan
Thank you John for traveling in the country of your ancestors!! This very powerful honey had a surprising taste that did not last very long. Some pineapples and eucalyptus flavors were discovered in this honey from the rising sun country.

 Pologne/Poland
Thank you Anna for these next 3 honeys. These came from a Polish bed and breakfast that teachers the visitors about the art of honey culture. This acacia honey (Miod Akacjowy) had some flavors of leather, card board and fruity with a powerful perfume.

This second Polish honey (Spadz Iglasta) was darker which reflected in it's taste. Molasse, caramel, smokey and even camp fire were it's characteristics.

This last Polish honey (Miod Lesny) left us with no big impression even if there were hints of lemon. It tasted like a clover honey found in our areas.

 Allemagne/Germany
Thanks Andrew (well your wife) for this little honey. Although the package was very commercial, this honey had still some great flavors. Chocolaty, maple butter and tree trunk!

 Suisse/Switzerland
Thanks again to Andrew's wife. This honey left us with a toothpaste taste that resemble the flavor of mint. Zachary thought he was eating a candy!

Allemagne/Germany
Finaly some honey in little single serving packs, left us with some new flavors: yellow mustard and passion fruits.

On a bien hâte.
Thanks again for encouraging us with your honeys. We have on deck a couple of Québec honeys, including one with a taste of fir tree!! We cannot wait.

Hello everyone, thank you again for following our wonderful taste bud trip. Today we have 9 honeys coming from 5 countries. Let's go, I cannot wait, as today we will be tasting one of our favorites, Acacia honey from Italy.

1.  Fleurs de Turquie/Turkish flowers
Julie E.
Merci Julie!
Interesting how some honeys have so many flavors. This one has caramel, peanuts, leather and a begining of spaghetti sauce!! A very thick honey too.

Thanks to our friend Frédéric who brought back from his most recent trip to Rome, Italy, the next 4 honeys. This one: alpine flowers from Piedmont.

This very light, almost white honey brings us in fields of lavender, roses and even has a bit of grape taste. Needless to say, Piedmont not only produces some great Italian wine, but also great honeys.

3. Tiglio/Tilleul, Italie/Italy

This very strong honey leaves us with an almost bitter taste of burnt sponge taffy.

4. Mille fleurs/ Millefiori, Italie/Italy

No doubt this one made for a unanimous verdict about its flavors. Fruit juice, ripe apple, green grapes, really sweet and a final touch of white wine.

5. Acacia, Italie/Italy
We fell in love with Acacia honey back on our first trip to Italy in 2011. This particular one was very light and had a delicate nose. Its strong sweet taste reminded us of home-baked apple pie.

6. Bleuet de la Colombie-Britannique/ Blueberry from BC, Canada
 Merci Lorraine, Thanks Lorraine

Although we expected this honey to have a strong smell, it did not, but nor did it disappoint us with its wonderful anise and maple candy taste. There was also a little aftertaste of wax in this one.

7. Chardon/Thistle, Colombie-Britannique/ BC
Thanks again Lorraine, merci encore Lorraine

This dark honey really surprised all of us. The great chocolate taste really hit the spot for all the men in this family!! The taste of molasses also showed up in this tasting. Thanks Lorraine, we love this honey.

8. Trèfle/Clover, Temiscamingue, Canada
Merci Sonia

Clover honey is very popular in Québec, so I wasn't expecting anything new. Well, let me tell you, wow! This delicate honey reminded us of a cup of hot milk with honey that we had in the woods one winter many years ago, that was comforting. We even found some hints of chocolat in this one. Thanks Sonia.

9. Pissenlit/Dandelion, Nouvelle-Zélande/New Zeland
Merci Marianne

When you think of dandelion, you do not think this plant has much to offer. It is seen as a weed in North America, but it is actually very nutritious. This honey had a nice lemony nose with a terrific anise and licorish taste.

Well that is it for another great taste bud trip around the world. We are always happy to receive the honey that you bring back for us from your trips. Thank you to those who made this "trip" a possibility.

29 mai 2015/ May 29th, 2015

Hello everybody, thank you for following our family's honey tasting adventures. I want to express how extraordinary this adventure has been so far. I have been asking many people to get us a little sweet treasure during your trips. Your response has been just wonderful and you are all pleased to offer us this little gift. What I especially notice is how much pleasure you took to find this local honey. You tell me incredible stories of how you found the honey and how much joy it brought you. I am so happy that my request is turning out to be a pleasure for both you and us. Thank you so much, I am warmed by your stories.Today our good friend Ryerson joined us for this honey tasting.

Eric

Hightlands Honey - Portland, Ontario
De/From: Natalie B.

Well this was a first, the honey and the honeycomb. Apparently you just suck on the comb and let the sweet taste of the honey fill your mouth. This sweet and sugary honey had some flavors of flowers. It was mild and pleasantly sweet says Ryerson. Of course it had an after taste of... wax!!

Grenade/Grenada
De/From: Mondel S.

The story of this one is funny, my friend Mondel asked his mom to bring back the famed Grenada honey on her most recent trip back home. What a treat. This one was all about the fruits. Blueberry, cherry and a beautiful sweetness. There were some beer and cooked apple flavor I thought. In all very appreciated.
Camp-Mel Brésil/Brazil
De/From: Jesana G.

I just love when honey have strong taste. We were very well served with this suprizing honey. Although it was a light honey, it punched a taste of licorish. It also had some grape flavors.

Heavenly Honey, Buckweat, Ottawa, Canada
De/From: Natalie B.

Well this locally produced honey is another example how the buckweat honey is becoming my favorite. It has the molasse and maple syrup combo that is appreciated. Then it finishes with a touch of musky/smokey chocolat; what more can I say but wow!

Well that is is for this time. On deck are 2 honeys from BC one from Italy and another one from Turkey. See you soon. Leave us a comments

Le vendredi SAINT - A GOOD Friday

Vendredi Saint, 2 avril 2015

On this Good Friday, April 2nd, 2015 our family greated my super neighbor who recently brought back some Chinese honey. Do we need another reason to taste honey...I think not!! In all 11 people participated in this event (from 4 to 46 year old)!! Comments below are combined comments from all participants.

Miel de Fleur de Chine- Flower honey China
De/From David
En premier le miel de Chine. To begin this taste day, the Chinese honey.

This honey had some grape juice, wine, flower taste. It also brought sour and bitter taste, even if those were light. It tasted like delicate spring flowers, but finishes with a plastic taste.

Yellow Box d'Australie - Australia Yellow Box
De/From Frédo

This Aussie honey is a very popular savor in the land down under. This dark yellow honey has savors of wood and sumptuous caramel.

Iron Bark d'Australie - Australia Iron Bark
De/From Frédo

Ouff!!

Wohoh! What an incredible strong and thick honey. It's probably the equivalent of what the Guiness is to beer. A strong taste of molasse, coffee, bark and bitter.

Lune de Miel - Pologne/Poland
De/From Krystyna

This traditional honey has a flavor of flowers and apple. Distinctively sweet.

A nice apple bubbly wine and Rhum.

La Bristoloise - La Bristole Québec
De/From: Eric

This local honey starts with a taste of wax, flower and maple syrup and ends with a wiff of cinnamon. Although this local honey has a traditional taste, it is nevertheless very appreciated by the group.

Manuka - Nouvelle-Zélande/New Zeland
De/From: Valentina

This honey is back for another kick at the can. But he has not lost his latex taste, but has shown some hint of apple today.

Miel de Saison- Wotton, Québec
De/From: Eric

Another showing for this honey. This time our taste buds founds some leafs, wild flowers, apples and dandelions.

Valgusto Miele di Eucalipto Italie/Italy
De/From: Carmela

A nice Italian honey that gives us some smokey taste, such as smoked sausages with very little sweet taste. Some of us saw a chocolat and vanilla taste, while others discovered some lemony taste. For me it tasted like 1970!!?

Surprise of rubbing alcohol, sweet alcohol, and finish with anise and caramel.

St. Maarten Guavaberry - St.Maarten
De/From: Phyllis

A bit of cough syrup anyone? Or a bit of Rhum and sugar canne for that cough? Molasse and strawberry too.

Bon voyage

On Friday June 20th, our amazing neighbors invited us to supper and a great honey tasting of many honeys from South Africa, that they brought back from their recent trip. Accompanied with Zachary we tasted a few local and previously tasted honey before digging in to South Africa. We also tasted honey from Hawaii (Thank you Shauney) and we revisited the Caribbeans and New Zeland. Enjoy the trip.

1.
Merci Patrick.

This first honey was a bit of a suprise, as I put some honey purchased at the Grocery. So we do not know where it comes from. But this traditional honey punched some nice floral taste, rose taste, peper taste and even  tastes of fields of Manitoba!! Thanks Patrick.

2.

This is one honey that we had tasted before, but wanted to share the experience with Suzanne and Patrick. A nice caramel and crème brulé sent with an amazing taste of wild fruits, jam and syrup.

 3.

Another honey already tested. A smell of skunk, repugnant and a taste of the old, sour, leathery, cactus and old shoe. Although the description may not sound amazing, it is interesting how honey, which is usually soft and sweet, can sometimes take on strong characteristics. This is what I love about this experience.

4.

This honey comes from the beautifuls ilands of Hawaii, Thank you Shauney. A great sweet taste, tastes also like those sponge candy, but mostly reminds us of those apples that we dipped in red toffey that we gave kids at Halloween. It also punched a light smokey taste.

5.

This honey from South Africa was named Citrus Blossom. As it`s name implies, there were definite tastes of orange, lemon, sweet and light. It had a thicker texture, but light. Il brought back memories of a train that passes by at a distance with a cloudy day. Incredible how a taste can evoque souvenirs we have.

6.

This little Eucalyptus honey from Africa was like a wet dog!! But after it had some tastes of caramel, cinnamon, beer, corn syrup and sponge taffy.

7.

This Fynbos honey had many tastes: sour, bitter, kiwi, litchi, exotic fruit, papaya, sweet, fermented and soft. Wow!!! what a pleasure for for our taste buds to have such a wide variety in one tea spoon!

8.

This Thislewood honey from Africa has a really nice gold color and a winner taste of caramel, and candy apple and very harmonious.

9.

Another Africa honey, that is creamy smooth, but liquidy and simple. We have the impression that this honey is zen, as we are left with an impression that if Yin and Yang had a taste, it would be this honey.

10.

Really sweet, strong and intense this African honey. Light taste of candy and liquorice.

 11.

This last honey of the evening is also from Africa. The Blue Gum had an odor of maple taffy. I am pretty sure there are no maple trees in Africa!! The task was also like maple caramel!

Leave use your comments and contact us if  you with to send us your honey!!
